Through the Pilgrim Icon Program, councils organize a Sacred Heart Holy Hour or other event featuring an icon provided by the Knights of Columbus. The icon changes every two years. This cycle the Pilgrim Icon is the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is a reproduction of a painting by Pompeo Batoni in 1767 and now venerated in the Church of the Gesù in Rome. The Sacred Heart Icon is a reproduction bearing the blessing of Pope Francis, through the Papal Almoner, and is one of more than 300 icons traveling across the world, from council to council, for veneration and use in prayer services. The Diocese of Austin Knights of Columbus is assigned one of this Pilgrim Icons, which may be reserved for a maximum of two weeks.
